Excellent reporting. I agree that we should use it in one of the workshops for sure! Actually, I’ve prepare a template for a presentation on IoT devices like this and I’ll be adding this as part of the presentation:

There is also this project that aims to make those devices safer in terms of privacy by creating noise over the device speaker unless the user authorizes it to listen:
