Whoever controls the top level domain (like .org) has some degree of control over the websites which rely on it as they can effectively suspend the domain (ours included).
The big deal is that many non-proffits rely on the .org domain. Read more about it in Mozilla’s post:

But either way, we’re talking here about DNS (Domain Name System) the .com .pt etc. It’s one of the shittiest businesses on the internet, full of wasted good names (domain parking) and in general an industry that revolves around artificial scarcity.
The domain that we can truly own is the .onion.
