Fortunately this kind of things are illegal in Portugal and, I believe, in most of Europe too but the practice seems to be spreading in the US.
That’s very unfortunate and outrageous, that must be some sort of stakerware trying to reach another market.
I’ve heard reports of this happening in Portugal with the particular case of uber-like drivers before the pandemic. It’s only a rumor, though. Because in that case, the tracking app is already required to be installed in order to work there. Allegedly workers were being asked why they were taking breaks, but this is from once source only and needs to be further investigated.
